BT energy saving is committed to responsible and sustainable business. Its vision is to tackle climate change through technology innovation as well as reducing its carbon footprint and encouraging suppliers, customers, and employees to do likewise. The nature of its business means that BT is among the top ten UK energy users.

In 2010/11 it consumed 2,342GWh of energy running its UK networks, data centres, and offices, which represents around 0.7 per cent of all the electricity used in the UK.

A roll out of SavaWatt Controls on split air conditioning units, with more than 200 office and retail sites was completed in 2000/01. In our initial tests, the average savings achieved were 30 per cent on single-phase air- conditioning equipment and 14 per cent on three-phase equipment.
