Greenhalgh’s is a long established family business which has grown successfully over fifty years. Greenhalgh’s provides a thriving chain of retail shops around the North West of England, as well as serving the wholesale sector nationwide and abroad.
As a long term user of SavaWatt Controls, we spoke to the original contact and look at how it all started.
John Hurst, Greenhalgh’s Chief Engineer’s own words:
We installed SavaControls to some refrigeration plant in our main bakery over 20 years ago.
It was then new technology and we had to ensure that:
- savings were as claimed by the manufacturers
- temperature was unaffected
- refrigeration equipment reliability was not impaired
We independently monitored the SavaControls over a period of several months and proved that the consumption savings were in line with the manufacturer’s claims. Temperature monitoring confirmed SavaControls were not affecting temperature stability or control . The SavaControl installation had no adverse effect on the refrigeration compressor’s performance or reliability.
Having proved the technology to our own satisfaction, we instructed SavaWatt to complete the full SavaControl installation to our bakery refrigeration. Since the initial SavaControl installation, Greenhalgh’s has installed SavaControls in our second bakery and subsequently throughout our original retail outlets.
We had 50 retail sites and instructed SavaWatt to carry out a SavaControl installation program to maximise savings on refrigeration throughout the estate.
